Admission Restricted (DoSV)

What is a dialog-oriented service procedure (DoSV)?

The allocation of study places for admission-restricted degree programs is carried out via the dialogue-oriented service procedure (DoSV) and is carried out by the Foundation for University Admissions (Hochschulstart.de). The procedure coordinates the application process for degree programs with local admission restrictions. The deadlines and further information can be found below.

How do i apply?

  • Register with Hochschulstart.de. If you have any questions about Hochschulstart.de, please contact Hochschulstart.de directly.

  • Once you have received an applicant ID and a BAN, create an applicant account in CAMPUSonline:
    • Students already enrolled at the University of Bayreuth will use their existing student account in CAMPUSonline to apply.
    • Former students can still use their student account up to 6 months after withdrawal. After this time, the account will be deactivated. If that is the case, please create a new applicant account and forward the e-mail to studierendenkanzlei@uni-bayreuth.de received via CAMPUSonline to the Student Administration Office with the registration code as described.
  • Complete the application via CAMPUSonline. Please do not apply unitl your higher education entrance qualification (A-levels or Abitur grade) has been officially confirmed.

  • Once you have sent the application and you are not asked to upload any documents, you will automatically take part in the admission procedure.

  • If you are asked to upload documents, please do so afterwards. You can upload documents while entering your application in CAMPUSonline or afterwards in "Application status". The application can only be processed if all documents have been received by the University of Bayreuth by the deadline. For the following applications, documents must be submitted by upload by 15 July 2025:
  • If the allowed document size is exceeded, you can upload the pdf-size via the following portals http://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf and https://en.pdf24.org/ to adjust the pdf size.

  • You can check the status of your application at any time using CAMPUSonline "Application status". If we have any questions, we will also contact you by e-mail. Please check the "Application status" as well as your e-mails (including your spam folder) regularly.

  • You can follow the status of your application in the application portal of hochschulstart.de. After the application deadline, the results of the admission procedures for the individual degree programs will gradually appear in the application portal. As soon as you have received an offer of admission, you can accept it directly. The letter of admission will then be made available for download via hochschulstart.de.
Information on the local selection limits of previous semesterHide
PrioritizationHide

If you have submitted multiple applications to hochschulstart.de, you should prioritize them individually. Prioritization gives the degree programs you prefer a higher priority over the degree programs you prioritize lower.

Prioritization determines the order in which the applications are considered when admission offers are made. If an applicant receives multiple offers of admission, the applications with lower priority are eliminated from the process within a short period of time.

Please therefore actively prioritize, as otherwise your applications will automatically be prioritized according to the time of submission (chronologically).

Note: Prioritization does not affect your chances of admission.

Further information on prioritization can be found here.

Coordination phaseHide

The selection process is divided into two main phases: the coordination phase and coordinated acceptance. The coordination phase begins after the application deadline on July 15 and lasts about 6 weeks. During the coordination phase, the universities gradually release their admission offers. If you have applied to several universities via DoSV, this means that you may receive an offer from some universities a little earlier and from others a little later. As soon as you have accepted an offer, you will automatically be excluded from the allocation procedure (in DoSV) at the other universities/study programs.

Further information on the coordination procedure can be found here.

Coordinated follow-up procedureHide

After the coordination phase, the coordinated coordinated follow-up procedure begins, in which the unoccupied or re-vacated places are distributed in a quick run.

Places that have already been taken can become available again if, for example, applicants who have already been admitted have not enrolled in the degree program by the deadline set for them.

Please note: The universities decide whether individual degree programs participate in the coordinated follow-up procedure. Applicants can participate if they have registered for the coordinated follow-up procedure within 72 hours via hochschulstart.de and have not yet received an offer of admission during the coordination phase.

As soon as one of your applications moves into the eligible range according to the defined logic, the status in the coordinated follow-up procedure immediately changes from “Offer of admission currently not possible” to “Admitted”.

The same applies here: Those who receive admission are automatically excluded from the further procedure (DoSV).

Prospective students who have not yet participated in the procedure have the option of registering for the coordinated follow-up procedure. New applications will only be considered if the existing ranking lists from the coordination phase are fully exhausted and there are still places available.

Further information on the coordinated follow-up procedure can be found here.

If any places remain unfilled at the end of the coordinated follow-up procedure, a lottery procedure will be initiated.

Lottery procedureHide

A lottery procedure may be initiated for degree programs with admission restrictions if places remain available after the selection procedure has been completed. The announcement of a lottery procedure is made via the website of the Student Administration Office.

EnrolmentHide

As soon as you have received an offer of admission, you can accept it directly. The letter of admission is then provided as a download via hochschulstart.de. Please be sure to note the registration period for the admission letter provided in CAMPUSonline. It is not sufficient to accept the study place in good time at hochschulstart.de. The study place is only guaranteed if enrollment is completed by the specified deadline. Information on enrollment can be found here

If it is determined during the review of the documents that the admission was based on incorrectly stated application data, enrollment may not be granted.

DeferralHide

If you have been admitted but are unable to start your studies due to an approved service (e.g. FSJ, BFD), you can apply for a deferral.

Further information on deferral can be found here.

Further information for applicants with professional qualifications and IBHide
  • Do you have a higher education entrance qualification from the United Kingdom/Ireland or an International Baccalaureate diploma? You apply within the deadline and then receive a grace period until which you can submit evidence of a higher education entrance qualification via a tentative notice of grade equivalency provided by the Bavarian Office for the Recognition of Foreign Credentials.
  • Applicants with professional qualifications:
